OPT for health is a behavioral research center within the VCU School of Medicine. Our goal is to conduct cutting edge research on the prevention and treatment of obesity and related medical conditions. We offer quality lifestyle and weight management programs to the community through our ongoing clinical trials.
Our team members work closely with participants to promote positive health outcomes through behavior change. We are particularly focused on improving treatment programs for at-risk populations, including young adults and individuals from underserved or minority backgrounds. Dr. Jessica LaRose is the Director of the Center. She is a clinical psychologist and faculty member in the Department of Health Behavior and Policy at VCU. Dr. LaRose has more than a decade of experience designing and implementing lifestyle interventions for the management of chronic medical conditions and obesity.
